2002 Ford Windstar Spindle Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the spindle on 2002 Ford Windstar?
A: Start spinal service and repair operations by removing the hub along with the rear brake anti-lock sensor through unfastening the bolt then detaching the sensor. Disconnection of the rear brake line becomes possible when you remove its securing bolt then connect a plug to it. Approval of retainer clips through depression allows the parking brake lever and backing plate to be separated from their connection with the parking brake cable and conduit. You should disconnect the parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake cable bracket and then extract it from the backing plate. Drain the four rear wheel spindle-to-rear axle nuts. The serrations on the four wheel spindle bolts should be used to fit both the brake backing plate and the wheel spindle until each bolt is driven out. Remove the rear wheel spindle alongside brake backing plate and rear brake components while carefully pressing four rear wheel spindle bolts for thread protection which removes the brake backing plate from the rear wheel spindle. You should perform the opposite steps of removal while also bleeding the brake system for installation. Either original parts with identical numbers or equivalent pieces should replace critical suspension fasteners during reassembly. Proper retention requires using specified torque values on all components.
