2002 Lincoln Continental Blend Door Actuator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Front Blend Door Actuator on 2002 Lincoln Continental?
A: The service process for the heater air damper door starts with taking out the rear seat airflow duct followed by the instrument panel. The radiator coolant needs draining until the amount falls below the heater core position and collects refrigerant for recovery. Delivery of the electrical connector from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) begins by loosening its screw before unhooking the heater water hose from both the heater core and vacuum supply hose. Begin by detaching the spring lock couplings between the evaporator core and condenser tube as well as accumulator tube and evaporator tube. Then disconnect all electrical connectors of the evaporator housing. First detach the cowl panel washers and nuts before unscrewing the A/C evaporator housing, metal cover and vacuum harness. Caution should be exercised while rotating and removing the vacuum control motor so that you avoid bending the vacuum control motor lever since it has brittle consistency and potential breakage. The installation process requires the opposite steps applied during removal while using PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent WSH-M1C231-B and employing either MERPOL(R) ESE-M99B144-B or plain water for coolant hose lubrication.
