The service of the left-hand side exhaust manifold should start by removing the heat shield when present. The service begins with removing three upper nuts that stabilize the LH exhaust manifold before conducting the three-way catalytic converter TWC removal. You must remove the splash shield lower section through the process of detaching its bolts with the pin-type retainers removed. The service technician should remove any secondary air tube that exists on the exhaust manifold. Proceed by unmounting three lower nuts with the exhaust manifold while discarding the gasket. A new gasket must be applied when installing the exhaust manifold while tightening the bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) at two separate stages to achieve a proper seal. The installation process starts by putting back the secondary air tube to the exhaust manifold and then follows installation of the lower splash shield which is secured with shield and pin-type retainers and bolts. Install both the TWC and the heat shield when they have been removed from the car.
