2003 Ford Excursion A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator with Auxiliary Climate Control on 2003 Ford Excursion?
A: Start the servicing process of the accumulator HVAC with auxiliary climate control system by recovering its refrigerant. The service requires you to detach both the A/C cycling switch connector and the evaporator core outlet tube while disposing of the O-ring seal. A back up wrench must be used for safe removal of the suction accumulator/drier. Engine coolant drainage is required along with fitting the auxiliary line until you discard the O-ring seal. After disconnecting the electrical connector the service procedure for diesel vehicles involves breaking nuts on the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor along with its bracket assembly after vacuum line and unclamping steps. After detaching the clamps start by removing the intercooler tube alongside disconnecting the heater hose coupling from the underbody auxiliary heater lines. All vehicles require separation of the manifold and tube assembly by discarding the O-ring seal alongside detachment of the evaporator inlet from its clip and bolt removal from the suction accumulator/drier. The installation requires performing the reverse steps of removal with fresh PAG oil-lubricated O-ring seals and the correct dosage of clean PAG oil inside the refrigerant system. A secondary wrench should be used during the installation process of the suction accumulator to protect it from damage.
