2003 Ford Excursion Brake Disc Parts Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Brake Disc for the F-250 and F-350 4x2 on 2003 Ford Excursion?
A: The service and repair of F-250 and F-350 4x2 brake rotor/disc requires first unbolting the disc brake caliper anchor plate. You should remove the disc brake rotor by beginning with hub grease cap removal followed by the cotter pin and spindle nut and nut retainer. Begin by removing the outer wheel bearing retainer washer and the outer wheel bearing and subsequently remove the disc brake hub together with the rotor. To perform resurfacing of the brake rotor you should use machinery directly on the vehicle itself. When resurfacing the wheel takes place remove both the wheel hub grease seal alongside the inner wheel bearing. To set up the assembly use Metal Brake Parts Cleaner F6AZ-2C4 1O-AB or an equivalent product to clean and examine front wheel bearings and the disc brake hub and rotor. Before assembly apply Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or XG-1-K according to Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B to the wheel bearings. Then add new wheel hub grease seal followed by the installation of the inner wheel bearing and another new grease seal. You need to position the disc brake hub along with rotor before placing the outer wheel bearing and wheel outer bearing retainer washer. While rotating the disc brake hub and rotor you must install the spindle nut and tighten it. First tighten the spindle nut by two turns before rotating this assembly again. Next undo the nut two times then re-tighten with additional rotation. Perform the tightening and loosening operation once more. The service concludes by putting on the nut retainer along with the cotter pin and hub grease cap and disc brake caliper anchor plate.
