2005 Ford E-150 A/C Hose Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Hose from Condenser to Evaporator on 2005 Ford E-150?
A: The first step for fixing the condenser to evaporator line requires refrigerant recovery. The procedure for vehicles with 6.0L diesel engine requires disconnecting the condenser fitting along with getting rid of the O-ring seal. The engine air cleaner together with the air cleaner outlet tube must be uninstalled from vehicles that use 4.6L, 5.4L or 6.8L engines. A wrench positioned on both sides of each fitting will protect the equipment during the refrigerant line core condenser disconnection process along with the compressor discharge line and condenser to evaporator tube disconnection; dispose of the used O-ring seals. The process for vehicles with auxiliary A/C requires dismantling four clamps along with a screw and a clamp before disconnecting the underbody tube spring lock coupling through the discarding of O-ring seals. A wrench applied on both sides of the fitting should be used to disconnect the A/C evaporator core fitting while also removing the screw and discarding the O-ring seal. To install the condenser-to-evaporator tubes apply the removal steps in reverse order and use new O-ring seals that received mineral oil lubrication followed by proper PAG oil lubrication of the refrigerant system. The complete A/C system needs evacuation before performing leak tests and final system charging procedures. Use Refrigerant Compressor Oil (Mineral Oil) F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals and choose PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or its equivalent that fulfills Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B as the A/C compressor lubricant only. The replacement of a suction accumulator needs installation only in situations when physical contamination evidence exists from a broken A/C compressor or when the suction accumulator sustains damage.
