2005 Ford Escape Fan Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the radiator cooling fan motor and shroud on 2005 Ford Escape?
A: The first step to repair the radiator cooling fan motor and shroud requires you to position the vehicle on a hoist with neutral transmission setting. Your work starts with removing the radiator grille together with the front impact severity sensor. You will need to remove the four bolts and two radiator brackets which require tightening to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling them. The technician must detach the lower bolt that supports the center section before tightening it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling it. Connectors must be removed from the fan before the nut and center support before reinstallation by applying torque to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors before removing the six cooling fan bolts that need to be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) for installation. The left-hand cooling fan requires removal first followed by moving the right-hand cooling fan towards the left for extraction. The installation of cooling fans should follow the reverse sequence of removal steps.
