How to service and repair the radiator cooling fan motor and shroud on 2006 Ford Escape?

The vehicle must be placed in neutral position on a hoist before starting radiator cooling fan motor and shroud servicing and repair. The service starts with removing the front impact severity sensor before extracting both pushpin retainers from the front bumper bracket alongside the front grille bolts which require 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. You must drain the cooling system and detach the transmission cooler hose for vehicles with 3.0L. The drilling of both radiator brackets requires removal of their 4 bolts followed by tight application of 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling. Disengage the center support lower bolt and the nut that secures the center support by screwing the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. After disconnecting the electrical connectors of the cooling fan and removing the 2 bolts, extraction of the cooling fan motor and shroud is possible; installation requires tightening the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Also refollow the removal steps to reinstall while 3.0L vehicle owners need to perform cooling system filling and bleeding.
