2005 Ford Expedition Parking Brake Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the parking brake cable for the RH rear on 2005 Ford Expedition?
A: The first step to fix the parking brake cable for the RH rear involves completely unlocking the parking brake cable tension. Insert the pin through park brake control frame and cam with helper support from the front cable. The RH kick panel contains an air suspension switch that requires turning off before hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle since unexpected air spring events could cause the vehicle to shift. Move the vehicle up safely to support position and then disconnect and take off the RH rear cable from its cable line. Compression of the cable clip frees the conduit from the equalizer before removing the RH rear cable from its retaining clip. When installing the upper control arm wireform bracket the first step is to push down on the retainer until the conduit becomes free before unclipping the cable end from the lever. The completion of installation requires following the opposite steps of removal.
