2005 Ford F-150 A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on 2005 Ford F-150?
A: Refrigerant recovery should be the first step when servicing the suction accumulator in the HVAC system. After the PCM removal together with removing the battery tray and the battery researchers should disconnect the PCM bracket by unfastening all three bolts before setting the bracket back in place which requires final tightening at 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Use fresh O-ring seals to connect the suction accumulator outlet fitting after taking off the fitting nut then tightening all components to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Unfasten the suction accumulator inlet fitting which requires discarding the O-ring seals. You must first loosen the two bracket-nuts by rotating them to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) torque specification before installing them again. When installing the suction accumulator reverse the steps of removal while using new O-ring seals and applying the right amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system. The service can be finalized by evacuating the refrigerant system followed by leak testing and system charging.
