    A: The first step to work on the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system module starts with disconnecting the battery ground cable. Disconnect the vacuum connector then the electrical connector from the EGR system module before proceeding to remove the exhaust manifold-to-EGR system module tube. Detach the EGR system module by removing its two bolts and then discard the old gasket. The new gasket installation requires that you position the raised circle toward the intake manifold. A plastic scraping tool should be used to clean the EGR system module's mating surfaces since scratches may form leak paths. Place the EGR system module and tighten its bolts with cross-torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Secure the exhaust manifold-to-EGR system module tube by tightening it to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). Reconnect both electrical and vacuum connectors of the EGR system module while replugging the battery ground cable.
