How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable for Rear on 2005 Ford Ranger?

The service and repair of parking brake cables should occur when the parking brake control is fully released and the system tension is relieved. To start service the front parking brake cable with its conduit you should pull it down before inserting a 4 mm (5/32 inch) drill bit or equivalent retainer. First disconnect the parking brake intermediate cable from its location hole on the connector and then proceed to disconnect it from the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit. Deflect the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit apart from their pair on the parking brake cable equalizer before removing both components. It is possible to remove the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake cable bracket after compressing the parking brake cable clip and unlocking the retaining clip for removal. First disconnect the RH parking brake rear cable along with the conduit from the RH hydraulic brake line clips and unclip both components from the brake line clamp above the rear axle housing. After disconnecting the parking brake cable from its lever you need to detach the parking brake rear cable and conduit through retainer finger compression. Reverse all steps from the removal process to reinstall the components.
