2005 Lincoln Aviator A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2005 Lincoln Aviator?
A: The A/C accumulator service process requires first placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoisting system. First extract the refrigerant and afterwards remove the A/C accumulator bracket nut before tightening it to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) upon reinstallation. The service requires removing two A/C line fitting nuts while discarding O-ring seals before installing new ones securely at 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Service the A/C accumulator by first removing its bracket bolt then its accumulator component before retightening both to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Start by installing the new parts with seals prepared in clean mineral oil and add the correct amount of clean PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19D589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent specified by Ford WSH-M1C231-B. The refrigerant system needs evacuation followed by leak testing before a charge procedure. Refrigerant Compressor Oil (mineral oil) F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) serves R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals effectively but cannot be used to lubricate the refrigerant system when operating as an A/C compressor lubricant. A new A/C accumulator requires installation only if evidence shows contamination from failed A/C compressor failure or A/C accumulator damage.
