- Q: How to service the evaporator core on 2005 Lincoln LS?A: The procedure to service the evaporator core starts with removing heater core components along with evaporator core housing units. Proceed by removing two screws which attach the air inlet housing to the evaporator core housing followed by unfastening the clip to detach these housings from one another. Next disconnect the evaporator core housing wire harness then place it to the side. The heater core and evaporator core housing cover requires removal of its dash panel seal as well as its eight securing screws to disclose the evaporator core. The installation process requires Users to first reverse the removal steps while they apply clean mineral oil on new O-ring seals before giving the refrigerant system its proper amount of clean PAG oil. The vacuum leak test should always be performed prior to removing the evaporator core to determine the necessity of acquiring a fresh receiver/drier unit. The receiver/drier needs replacement only when the failed A/C compressor or receiver/drier damage results in contamination.
