2005 Mercury Mountaineer A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on 2005 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: Service and repair operations on the condenser core start with eliminating the air cleaner as well as upper radiator sight shield. First remove the suction accumulator together with the two A/C fitting nuts and dispose of their existing O-ring seals. After reinstallation check that the nuts achieve 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque. Proceed by removing the air deflector and after the four radiator bracket bolts and then take out the two radiator brackets. Two condenser bracket bolts along with the two condenser brackets need to be removed. Position the radiator in back of the car to access the condenser core. Installation requires the opposite steps of removal but with new O-ring seals coated in clean mineral oil and correct usage of clean PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or Ford equivalent product WSH-M1C231-B. The final step involves charging the refrigerator system through a leak test while using F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals yet refraining from using this lubricant as an A/C compressor lubricant.
