How to service and repair the A/C Hose from the condenser to the evaporator on 2005 Mercury Mountaineer?

Service and repair of condenser to evaporator line starts with removing the air cleaner and air cleaner outlet tube followed by the suction accumulator. The service process includes refrigerant recovery followed by removing the three coolant bottle bolts which should be tightened to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reinstalling them. First remove dash panel A/C line bracket nut then tighten it to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft), perform the same operation for fender splash shield A/C line bracket nut. Remove the two A/C line fittings by first discarding the O-ring seals before removing the A/C fitting nut which also requires new O-ring seals at installation time while tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). During new line installation reverse the removal order by using new mineral oil-lubricated O-ring seals and applying the correct amount of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or WSH-M1C231-B equivalent from Ford specifications. To finish the process the technician should evacuate the system followed by leak testing before charging the system with refrigerant. The R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals benefit from mineral oil-based F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) while this product does not qualify to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system compressors. A replacement suction accumulator should be installed only to fix contamination resulting from an A/C compressor failure or damage or if it fails a leak test.
