2006 Mercury Mountaineer A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on 2006 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: A proper repair of the condenser core requires a process of refrigerant recovery. When servicing the condenser core start by removing the air cleaner then the two coolant expansion tank bolts before setting the coolant expansion tank to the side while tightening the tank to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) when reinstalling it. Detach the A/C pressure transducer electrical connector before loosening and disconnecting the condenser inlet fitting while discarding its O-ring and tightening the fitting to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) at installation time. Make the next step to disconnect the condenser outlet fitting by removing its nut then replace the O-ring seal before installation while tightening the fitting to a torque value of 8Nm(71 lb-in). Disconnect the two discharge line clips between the compressor and condenser and remove the cooling module bolts before repositioning the module backward to a torque of 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Remove the upper radiator air deflector and the two condenser core bolts before reinstallation where torque should be set at 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). First remove the condenser core along with its connected two condenser air deflectors. The installation process should end by reinstalling new O-rings and adding the proper quantity of clean PAG oil through refrigerant system lubrication. Evacuate and perform the leak test and charge the refrigerant system during the final steps.
