2006 Ford Ranger A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on 2006 Ford Ranger?
A: The HVAC system suction accumulator servicing process begins by recovering refrigerant followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the A/C cycling switch. A back up wrench should be used to protect the fittings before disconnecting suction accumulator inlets and outlets and the O-rings need replacement. During reinstallation the technician must apply a torque setting of 39 Nm (29 lb-ft) to the suction accumulator inlet fitting. Service the suction accumulator by first unscrewing its bracket screws and then reinstall it using new O-ring seals and correct PAG oil or equivalent lubrication of the refrigerant system. Perform an evacuation of the refrigerant system followed by leak testing before the charging procedure. The installation of a new suction accumulator must happen only when physical contamination from a faulty compressor or broken suction accumulator exists.
