2006 Ford Taurus Heater Core Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the heater core on 2006 Ford Taurus?
A: Service and repairs of the heater core need engineers to drain the engine coolant before starting work. You need to start by eliminating the instrument panel before moving to the right-side cowl vent screen. You should eliminate two screws and water shield before you detach heating tubes from the heater core. Vehicle owners must disconnect the remote climate control (RCC) module by removing its electrical connector as well as two nuts before disconnecting the vacuum harness and removing two screws when the model has Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC). Any vehicle owner needs to first disconnect electrical connectors and remove three screws from the temperature blend door actuator while detaching its shield with two screws. The next step involves the removal of the temperature blend door assist spring after which the supplemental temperature blend lever shaft must be removed following tab depression to detach it from the supplemental blend door before rotating the supplemental blend door pivot shaft out of the metal link. Disconnect the metal link from the temperature blend door pivot shaft and proceed by using three screws to remove the heater core cover. Rotate the temperature blend door pivot shaft before extracting the cover along with its seal. Circular motion of the blend door pivot shaft will remove the heater core while following the reverse installation procedure. Complete installation requires cooling system refilling after finishing the instructions while also using plain water to lubricate the coolant hoses if needed.
