2006 Ford Taurus Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Water Pump on 2006 Ford Taurus?
A: The service and repair operations for the coolant pump begin by draining the cooling system contents. The 4 bolts securing the coolant pump pulley require loosening before detaching the accessory drive belt. You should now eliminate the degas bottle and the generator from their positions. Starting with bolt removal, you should take out the nut then roll restrictor and bracket before removing bolt and accessory drive belt tensioner. The service begins by removing the nut and bolt with support bracket before moving on to detach the 4 bolts and coolant pump pulley. The necessary steps to remove the coolant pump include unplugging the crankshaft sensor electrical connector and the coolant pump inlet hose followed by the removal of 10 bolts and 2 stud bolts and the coolant pump itself. Before installing the 10 bolts together with the 2 stud bolts onto the coolant pump position its sealing surfaces properly. Tighten bolts from 1 through 7 to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and bolts 8 through 12 to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). After you connect the coolant pump inlet hose to its proper location and reconnect the crankshaft sensor, you must install the 4 bolts and the coolant pump pulley without tightening them. You should install the accessory drive belt tensioner followed by tightening it to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) after which the support bracket and bolt along with nut receive the same torque value for installation. Install the bolt, nut and roll restrictor with the bracket before securing the nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and the bolt to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Replace all components by reinstalling the generator together with the degas bottle and accessory drive belt. The 4 coolant pump pulley bolts require a torque of 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) then the cooling system requires filling and bleeding.
