2006 Lincoln LS Thermostat Housing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the thermostat housing on 2006 Lincoln LS?
A: Service of the thermostat housing starts with draining the cooling system first. Begin by removing the air cleaner outlet pipe followed by disconnecting the auxiliary coolant pump-to-thermostat housing hose before putting all components aside. The next step involves removing the two lower radiator hose support bracket bolts which should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) upon reinstalling them. Cut the connection between the lower radiator-to-thermostat housing hose and place it to the side. First uninstall the three bolts which secure the thermostat housing then discard the original O-ring seal of the old housing unit. You must tighten the bolts of the new thermostat housing to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) before adding a new O-ring seal that needs lubrication with clean engine coolant. Finish the process by both filling the cooling system and bleeding it.
