2006 Lincoln LS Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the radiator on 2006 Lincoln LS?
A: Start servicing the radiator by placing the vehicle on a hoist in NEUTRAL position. The first step is to empty the cooling system and remove the cooling fan motor and shroud then the upper radiator sight shield. Detach the upper and lower radiator hoses running to the radiator before placing them safely aside. The service requires removal of eight bolts which should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling the upper radiator support brackets. Before reinstalling the condenser, lower it down to gain access to A/C condenser-to-radiator retaining bolts then detach the two screws and position the condenser to the side while torquing both bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). After removing the two bolts securing the A/C condenser upper brackets you must retrieve the two brackets which should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) upon reinstallation. The radiator must be leaned forward to access the bolts on the combination cooler before lifting the cooler up and forward to free it from radiator retention clips. The two bolts are then removed and the combination cooler should be placed aside using 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) torque upon installation. Begin by taking off the three bolts before dropping the shield downwards while releasing the clips so you can pull out the radiator effectively. Installation of the radiator requires performing the reverse steps of removal while ensuring correct placement of the combination cooler in retaining clips before completing the cooling system filling and bleeding process.
