2006 Lincoln Town Car Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2006 Lincoln Town Car?
A: Service of the vacuum brake booster begins with removing the battery ground cable first. Service on the vacuum brake booster requires first disconnecting both the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector and brake booster check valve. The two brake master cylinder nuts must be removed but reinstall them tightly at 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). First disconnect the wiring harness bracket then set it aside before pulling the brake master cylinder forward until it is positioned out of the way. Proceed to remove pin-type retainers along with the instrument close-out panel from the system. Remove the brake booster push rod retaining pin cover with its pin and washer and bushing and switch before sliding the booster push rod from the pedal pin. Fasten the power brake booster nuts with a torque of 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling the system. Setting the brake switch correctly means placing the closed hole placement at the opposite end of the brake pedal arm and directing the open hole toward the arm for proper orientation of the brake booster input rod. Finishing the installation process requires you to follow the opposite procedure for removal.
