The first step to servite and repair the front brake caliper involves placing the vehicle into NEUTRAL gear on top of a hoist. Drain the brake hose flow bolt then put aside the hose with waste of the two copper washers while capping the fluid ports. Hardness produced by probing the caliper sight hole will damage pistons along with their boots. To detach the brake caliper remove its two bolts; check for leaks and boot damage then choose to install a new brake caliper. First secure the brake caliper bolt for the bottom locator pin before tightening the top guide pin brake caliper bolt to a torque specification of 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.). Two new copper washers are needed to install the brake hose correctly through which the brake hose flow bolt should be tightened up to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Before finalizing the operation check that the brakes function normally after bleeding the brake caliper. The use of DOT 3 brake fluid approved by the DOT is necessary to protect brake system parts from damage along with proper cleanup methods for fluid contact with eyes and any painted or plastic materials through immediate water application.
