How to service and repair the lower control arm on 2006 Mercury Mountaineer?

Check the lower control arm serviceability at level ground by measuring the hub center to fender lip length. Sets the vehicle in neutral mode and lifts it with a strong jack till the suspension reaches the required measurement. Remove the lower arm outboard bolt and flag nut before taking off the stabilizer bar link nut and grommet and stud and link assembly. Discard all parts except the stud. Lower the suspension then take off the jack. Unfasten the shock absorber lower bolt and set it aside. Then take out the lower arm inboard bolt and nut. Place the new lower arm in its designated position and install both new lower arm inboard bolt and nut components. Place the lower frame component and attach a fresh shock absorber lower facing bolt and nut without fastening the bolts. After lifting the suspension to the specified distance with a jack apply the stabilizer link parts, link stud, and new nut and grommet. Tighten them to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Fasten a fresh lower arm outboard bolt first then secure the lower arm inboard bolt at 250 Nm (185 ft. lbs.) before installing and tightening the shock absorber lower bolt to 275 Nm (203 ft. lbs.). End the job by lowering the suspension system and taking away the jack.
