2007 Ford Crown Victoria EGR Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the EGR Valve in the exhaust gas recirculation system on 2007 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: All servicing and repairing work on the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module starts with disconnecting both electrical and vacuum connectors installed on the EGR system module. The intake manifold shield needs its two retaining bolts removed but you should secure them to 12 Nm torque (9 lb-ft) during replacement installation. When disconnecting the EGR tube fitting from the EGR system module tighten it to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) torque. The two EGR system module holding bolts need removal before reinstallation where you should tighten them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The installation of a new EGR system module gasket requires discarding the old one along with scrupulous cleaning of sealing surfaces using a plastic scraping tool instead of metal scrapers or wire brushes or abrasive tools which can form leak-prone scratches and gouges. Carrying out metal surface preparation becomes acceptable for cleaning when there exists no remaining gasket material. When installing the EGR system module gasket always position it with the circular raised area directed at the intake manifold.
