2008 Ford Crown Victoria EGR Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the EGR Valve System Module on 2008 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The EGR system module service requires complete disconnection of electrical and vacuum connectors leading to the EGR system module as the first step of repair work. You should first remove two bolts holding the intake manifold shield by tightening them to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) before reinstalling. Follow this step by disconnecting the tube-to-EGR system module fitting and reassemble it with a torque of 43 Nm (32 lb-ft). When reinstalling the EGR system module fasten its two holding bolts to a torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Throw out the old EGR system module gasket while avoiding utility of metal scrapers or wire brushes or abrasive tools for surface cleaning because these tools generate damaging scratches and gouges which result in leaks. For effectively removing gasket residues select a plastic scraping tool over other cleaning instruments. The use of metal surface prep is possible for cleaning in the absence of any remaining gasket material. Reinstall the EGR system module by reversing the removal steps along with installing a new gasket that has its raised circle side directed toward the intake manifold.
