2007 Ford Crown Victoria Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the left-hand exhaust manifold on 2007 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: First inspect and depower the fire suppression system only when present before proceeding to service the left-hand exhaust manifold. Place the vehicle on a hoist when it remains in neutral gear and remove the negative terminal of the battery. Mount a proper support device to hold the steering wheel in its forward direction. Avoid any rotation of the intermediate shaft when separated from the steering gear because the Clock Spring could suffer damage; removal and recentering of the Clock Spring becomes necessary when shaft rotation occurs. First disconnect the intermediate shaft pinch bolt and then separate the intermediate shaft from the steering gear before placing them both aside. Disassemble the exhaust manifold heat shield through the removal of its two bolts before separating the shield. First detach the catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts before placing the catalytic converter flange to the side. The exhaust gas recirculation system module tube requires disconnecting from the exhaust manifold before left-hand heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) removal. The exhaust manifold needs eight securing nuts removed together with its gasket before discarding the components. To install place the exhaust manifold along with a new gasket and use eight new nuts to secure it in the specified sequence at 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs. torque). The EGR system module tube should be attached to the exhaust manifold with 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque while the left-hand HO2S requires 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque for installation. You must place the catalytic converter flange properly then fasten the catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts before tightening them to a torque of 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). The exhaust manifold heat shield needs two bolts which should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Install the pinch bolt to the intermediate shaft of steering gear while tightening it to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). The last step includes reconnecting the negative battery cable followed by reactivating the fire suppression system if it exists.
