2007 Ford Edge Alternator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the alternator on 2007 Ford Edge?
A: The service on alternators begins with disconnecting the battery terminal. Begin by removing the cooling fan and then use counterclockwise rotation of the accessory drive belt tensioner to set aside the accessory drive belt. After moving the generator protective cover you must remove the nut to expose and set aside the generator B+ terminal. Separate the generator electrical cable connection through unplugging its pin-type locking clips and wire harness. After removal of the generator stud nut install it at 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) torque. The generator stud removal should be followed by tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) at reinstallation. Crank off the generator bolt and take out the generator unit. The installation ends by following the removal steps in reverse and verifying every component is tight, while the generator B+ terminal should be taught to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
