2008 Ford Edge Alternator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the alternator on 2008 Ford Edge?
A: Service of the alternator should begin by disconnecting the battery from its power supply. First disconnect the cooling fan and with counterclockwise rotation of the accessory drive belt tensioner position the accessory drive belt to the side. The user should first secure the generator B+ terminal protective cover and unfasten the nut while placing the generator B+ terminal to the side before tightening it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) when reattaching. The wiring assembly for the generator must be disconnected after separating its pin-type retainer piece and its harnesses. The generator stud nut needs removal while you need to tighten it to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) when reinstalling it. Fasten the generator stud properly to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) before reinstalling it. The RH fender splash shield should be detached first so you can loosen the generator bolt to remove the generator while tightening it to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) before reinstalling. The complete process ends with performing the opposite steps of removal.
