  A: The first procedure for servicing the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system module requires disconnecting the battery ground cable as a starting point before continuing. Follow the sequence of steps which starts with Disconnecting the vacuum connector and electrical connector from the EGR system module before moving on to Detach the exhaust manifold-to-EGR system module tube. The removal process requires unbolted attachment of the EGR system module and discarding the old gasket. Check that the part with the raised circle should be placed against the intake manifold when applying the new gasket. A plastic scraping tool should be used to clean both mating surfaces of the gasket to prevent possible leak paths caused by scratches or gouges.
