2007 Ford Focus Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Ford Focus?
A: The process of fixing the vacuum brake booster begins with HCU removal along with disconnecting the speed control actuator electrical connector. Secure the speed control actuator aside after removing its bolts followed by tightening them to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) upon actuators' reinstallation. PZEV vehicles require the evacuation of the evaporative emission canister purge valve. The first step requires workers to remove the brake master cylinder through disconnecting the heater hose bracket pin-type retainer from the cowl. The vehicle maintenance requires disconnecting electrical connectors which enables twisting to extract switches from the vehicle including speed control deactivation switch (if equipped), stop lamp switch and clutch pedal position (CPP) switch for manual transmissions. Use the brake pedal to detach the brake booster actuating rod from the brake pedal before disengaging the tab and discarding both the brake booster actuating rod pin and its corresponding pin. When reinstalling the brake booster retain the nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) torque specifications. The installation requires a new brake booster actuating rod pin while you must correctly position the brake booster actuator rod through the bulkhead rubber boot alongside the brake booster gasket before final assembly. The last step includes reversing the removal process while following brake system bleeding procedures.
