2007 Ford Freestar Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Ford Freestar?
A: A service of the vacuum brake booster requires a master cylinder removal as the initial step. Start by removing the throttle body cables for speed control and accelerator followed by disconnection of the wiring harness retaining bracket. The speed control and accelerator cable bracket needs its installation nut and bolt removed before being placed to the side while tightening it to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs). The installation of speed control actuator requires torque setting to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs) for the two bolts. The brake booster aspirator tube check valve requires disconnected from the brake booster while the self-locking clip cover and clip from the brake pedal need removal. Remove the brake pedal position switch together with the booster rod and bushing from the brake pedal. Install then the four brake booster nuts after torqueing them to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs). Expected completion includes removing the brake booster from the vehicle followed by performing installation starting from the opposite direction.
