2007 Ford Freestar Wiper Arm Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Wiper Arm on 2007 Ford Freestar?
A: Service and repair operations on the wiper pivot arm begin with removal of windshield wiper arms from the vehicle. The washer hose needs disconnection before starting the cowl panel grille removal using pushpin-type retainers. Before continuing remove the washer hose grommet which is situated within the cowl panel for storage purposes. The A/C air inlet filter can be removed in cases where it applies. After disconnecting the nine cowl panel bolts the technician sets the cowl panel evacuation. The process of cowl panel removal from the vehicle requires disconnecting both the anti-theft hood ajar switch connector and the windshield wiper motor electrical connector. The wiper pivot arms-to-wiper motor bolt needs removal before gently using a lever tool to detach the wiper pivot arms from their pivot ball and socket. Seating the pivot arm socket to the pivot ball should be done by pressing the parts together until the socket is fully set. Because the next step requires correctly positioning the pivot arms against the wiper motor you should attach them and bolt them before tightening the bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Reinstall the anti-theft hood ajar switch connector followed by cowl panel insertion and consequence connection of windshield wiper motor electrical connector. The washer hose must be installed with the grommet into the cowl panel while torquing all nine cowl panel bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Before proceeding install A/C air inlet filter when needed then place the cowl panel grille inside the vehicle and route the washer hose into position. Apply the pushpins before installing the windshield wiper arms with nuts set to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft). To guarantee proper alignment complete a windshield wiper cycle until the wipers reach their parking position.
