2007 Ford Ranger Transmission Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Transmission Pan, Gasket, and Filter on 2007 Ford Ranger?
A: The first step when working on fluid pan repair requires you to place the vehicle on a hoist in NEUTRAL position. Completely drain transmission fluid before unclipping the transmission servo heat shield which was securely fastened to the fluid pan rail. First drain the transmission fluid before loosening only two screws at the transmission fluid pan's front while removing all other screws. Allow transmission fluid to drain out completely by pruning the fluid pan at the back prior to unscrewing the front two screws. You need to remove the transmission fluid pan while discarding the faulty gasket and proceeding with step two. Detach the transmission fluid filter by removing its screw until you expose the filter for disposal. Check the fluid pan along with its magnet for clear surfaces while also inspecting their mating points. Clean automatic transmission fluid should be used to lubricate new fluid filter O-ring seals before they are positioned on the main control valve body where a screw must be tightened up to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall the fluid pan magnet into its place before you settle the new gasket onto the pan and realign all elements ahead of screw installation. Follow a crisscross pattern when securing the screws until they reach 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.). Secure the servo heat shield if installed before tightening it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Initiate the procedure by adding at least 3.7 liters or 4 quarts of clean automatic transmission fluid to the correct level before enabling the park brake and beginning engine startup followed by range selector lever activation through all gears then checking the fluid level.
