The next step requires users to remove the lower steering column opening finish panel after removing one screw and relocating the parking brake release handle then following with another screw followed by the retained clip release with a pull-out motion. Five screws need to be removed from the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement and then remove the lower steering column shroud by dislodging its four screws. Detach the transmission control (TC) switch harness connector after taking away the upper steering column shroud. The procedure requires separation of the TC switch harness from both its locators and its disconnect of the selector lever cover from the steering column. The disposal of the old selector lever pin must be immediate and reinstalling it should never occur. The installation process requires you to remove first the selector lever pin and then the selector lever itself before performing the reverse process of installation.
