2007 Lincoln Town Car Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2007 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The first step for Brake Shift Interlock Actuator maintenance involves draining the back up power until the air bags remain inactive. Silence the electrical power by disconnecting the battery ground cable along with every additional power source during the one-minute waiting period. The next step involves removing the steering column Clock Spring component from the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Use a measuring meter to tighten the three bolts securing the coil mounting bracket to the steering column at 8 Nm (71 inch lbs). First detach the clip which holds the shift lock actuator then slide the actuator downward before removing both the park position switch and the complete actuator assembly from its cavity. The reverse installation steps should be followed to finalize the process.
