  A: The first step to serve and fix the evaporative emission control canister needs the vehicle in NEUTRAL mode on a hoist with a disconnected ground cable from the battery to remove electrical sparks that could ignite fuel vapors. When the fuel tank is positioned in the midship position the EVAP canister and bracket assembly must be removed because it operates above the spare tire.
