How to service and repair the leaf spring on 2008 Ford Ranger?

In order to service the leaf spring; place the vehicle in neutral on a hoist. Change lower shock absorber bolt, and use correct torque. Take off U-bolts and spring plate and fit in new ones in stages. Install new spring to frame bracket and shackle bolts, tightening up to a desired torque. Rollback the removal process to finish installation.
