How to Service the Power Steering Reservoir for the 3.0L Engine on 2008 Ford Ranger?

The first step to service the 3.0L engine power steering reservoir requires preventing foreign matter from entering the power steering system that would cause component failure. A proper device that avoids power steering fluid from touching the engine accessory drive belt should be used to safely extract fluid from the reservoir. The clamp requires pressure to cut off the return hose and another clamp compression disengages the power steering pump supply hose. The power steering reservoir should have its nut removed but must receive 14 Nm (10 lb-ft) of torque when reinstalling it. Before you install the power steering reservoir please tighten the two bolts to 14 Nm (10 lb-ft) and when finished with installation perform the same torque measure during the process. The completion of the process requires putting the reservoir in place followed by a filling operation for the power steering system.
