Disassembly of the rear bumper cover begins with unscrewing its two side lower screws and requires 5 Nm (44 lb-in) torque settings when reinstalling. The next step involves removing both the set of four center screws and set of two lower pushpins. First remove the splash shield's rear screws attached to the bumper cover then unfasten and tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) the upper screws located on each side during reinstallation. First detach the alignment bumper bolts and alignment bumpers before the repair before retightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when fastening. The rear bumper cover should be removed only after suspending both parking aid system and trailer tow electrical connector services. The new bumper cover installation begins by following the reverse order of the removal process and certifying correct insertion into bumper slides.
