How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2009 Ford Crown Victoria?

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) replacement procedure needs all customer keys available for programming but PCM replacement does not demand new keys during the installation process. The first step requires obtaining the module configuration data by implementing the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. To perform the PCM replacement first disconnect the three electrical connectors using the clips and then remove the bolt holding the module while removing the PCM device. The PCM installation requires the placement of the component followed by bolt fixing and torquing it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). You should reattach the three PCM electrical connectors while placing the clips back in their position. The PMI procedure needs to be executed first to restore the module configuration and then the reprogramming of the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) can be done through Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys.
