2009 Ford E-250 Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Master Cylinder on 2009 Ford E-250?
A: Begin replacement of the brake master cylinder by disabling the engine while pressing the brake pedal multiple times to deplete hydraulic pressure in the booster. When working on the coolant reservoir you should first remove its bolts before moving it away while tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) when reinstalling. Plug off the brake master cylinder tube fittings after disconnecting both the speed control deactivator switch and brake fluid level switch electrical connectors. The fitting torque requirements for vehicles without RSC(R) should be set to 18 Nm (159 lb-in) while vehicles with RSC(R) require 28 Nm (21 lb-ft). The procedure to remove an air cleaner outlet tube requires disconnecting coolant hoses from the tube then loosening its clamp to detach the tube before disconnecting the Mass Air Flow sensor connector and removing its three latches from the air cleaner cover. The PCM and bracket installation for gasoline engine vehicles requires removing 2 nuts from their bracken position before installation while re-repairing the nuts to a torque value of 20 Nm (177 lb-in). You need to discard the torque-prevailing brake master cylinder nuts before replacing them with new ones according to the following torque values: 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) for vehicles without RSC(R) and 15 Nm (133 lb-in) for RSC(R)-equipped vehicles. Bleed the brake system after completing reinstalling the brake master cylinder and performing an opposite sequence of removal steps.
