  A: Before beginning driveshaft replacement work start by setting the vehicle to NEUTRAL mode while it rests on a hoist. Index-marking allows you to preserve driveline balance between the driveshaft flange yoke and pinion flange as well as between the driveshaft yoke and the transmission tailshaft. Use a suitable pry bar to disconnect the driveshaft flange yoke from the pinion flange by using only the designated prying area instead of hammering on the driveshaft components. Remove the four driveshaft-to-pinion flange bolts with caution. The output shaft will lose the driveshaft as you slide it downward. The extension housing seal requires inspection before installation for any signs of damage. If damage is present, it should be replaced during this step. Apply grease to the slip-yoke spline along with verifying the alignment of paint marks between the front driveshaft side and transmission output shaft end. The driveshaft installation requires alignment of factory-made paint marks or index marks based on if such markings exist in the transmission. Tighten the bolts in a cross pattern until the driveshaft flange yoke fits perfectly on the pinion flange and align its index marks before adding four new bolts that should be torqued up to 112 Nm (83 lb-ft).
