2009 Ford Mustang Thermostat Housing Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the thermostat housing on a 4.0L SOHC engine on 2009 Ford Mustang?
A: The repair and service process for 4.0L SOHC thermostat housing begins with draining the cooling system fluid. The first step includes taking away the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe and the Throttle Body (TB). First disconnect the Electrical connector of the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor before removing the upper radiator hose together with the heater inlet hose and bypass hose from the thermostat housing and keeping them out of the way. You should remove the thermostat housing by taking out its three lower bolts after which you can install the new housing following a 12 Nm (106 lb-in) torque limit. The last procedure entails reversing the removal process for new component installation and proper cooling system filling and bleeding.
