2009 Ford Ranger Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2009 Ford Ranger?
A: The service process for vacuum brake boosters starts by taking off the brake master cylinder together with the vacuum hose removal from the brake booster check valve. The process starts by pulling out the stoplamp switch and speed control deactivator switch when the brake pedal rests at its position to depress the switch plungers for greater rotation inside the bracket. Applying force to remove these switches without plunger compression will break the mechanism. After detaching the stoplamp switch it is necessary to remove the speed control deactivator switch. Severely connect the brake booster push rod from brake pedal and bracket while taking out the bulkhead sound insulator. During replacement install the new brake booster following torque specifications of 25 Nm (18 lbft) applied to the four nuts which need to be removed first together with the brake booster itself. During reinstallation operation on the brake pedal should be avoided to prevent incorrect adjustments of the stoplamp switch and speed control deactivator switch while the booster push rod remains attached to the pedal sitting at rest. Close the project by performing the removal steps in reverse order to finish installation.
