    Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core in the main climate control system on Ford E-150 Econoline?
    A: New suction accumulator/driers should only be installed for the main climate control system when contamination or damage becomes evident. Perform a leak test before removal of the core when there is reason to suspect a leak in the A/C evaporator. Start the process by recovering then discharging the refrigerant from the system. The needed screws must be removed so you can take out the battery and battery tray. Use a wrench to disconnect compressor suction and evaporator discharge lines by placing the wrench on both sides of their fittings to avoid damage and move the oil fill pipe and windshield washer reservoir cover out of the way. The A/C system maintenance should start with standard vehicles by removing the suction accumulator/drier line spring lock coupling followed by unscrewing the screw to disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube. First disconnect and then remove the isolator from the compressor discharging lines after separating the refrigerant lines from the condenser core. You must first remove the six and five screws on the evaporator cover before taking off the support bracket by unscrewing it from the evaporator core housing. You should uninstall the A/C evaporator core while preserving the integrity of its cooling fins. During A/C evaporator installation service the core with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent compatible with Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Proper sealing is essential while paying attention to the cooling fins. Return the evaporator cover after installing its screws until you place the evaporator core housing support bracket back before screwing it down. Before installing new O-ring seals users should apply the same PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil to lubricate them. Reinstall the discharge line of the compressor and place the compression isolator in its position. Follow the applicable procedure to install the screw into the spring lock coupling between the auxiliary evaporator and compressor tube. Lubricate the O-ring seals of the compressor suction line before completing its installation and proceed by lubricating the O-ring seals of the evaporator discharge line. The final steps include reattaching the windshield washer reservoir cover and oil fill pipe with the battery tray and battery before performing evacuation and charging on the A/C system.
