The A/C Condenser of the Ford Excursion operates as the heat exchanger in which it condenses the gaseous refrigerant and turns it back into a liquid state to be sent to the accumulator. Normally located just ahead of the radiator, it is comprised of interconnected channels that perform the actual cooling. Despite the absence of information on differences regarding the types or styles of A/C Condensers used in different Excursion models, the basic structure is the same throughout the range. Originally, the responsibility of the A/C Condenser is to control the flow of refrigerants, which in a way would also determine the efficiency of the car's air conditioner.

Ford Excursion A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser core on Ford Excursion?
    A:
Service personnel should apply Refrigerant Compressor Oil F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals yet refrain from using it as A/C compressor lubrication. The A/C compressor requires lubrication from PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or another product compatible with Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Perform a leak test on the A/C condenser core before conducting its removal when leakage is suspected. First recover the refrigerant and afterwards remove the nine pin-type retainers in addition to the sight shield and finally detach the air deflector. Drain the A/C condenser core inlet and outlet line fluids before throwing away their O-ring seals. Route a marker at the Hood Latch position for correct assembly alignment before loosening the screws which allow hood latch repositioning. Remove the right-hand and left-hand A/C condenser core mounting brackets by taking away their screws before extracting the A/C condenser core from its position. Perform installation by carrying out the removal steps in reverse order alongside the installation of new O-ring seals which should be lubricated with mineral oil and applying the correct amount of PAG oil to the refrigerant system. The last operations include evacuation followed by a leak test then charging the refrigerant system.
