To replace the switches in the front climate control assembly, remove the assembly, next remove the heater blower motor switch by unscrewing and rotating. Same with the temperature control and A/C damper door switches. To install, step through the process of removing and keep in mind that knobs will be loosened in the process.

How to Service and Repair the Front A/C Switch in a Climate Control Assembly on Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

In order to maintain the front climate control assembly, the audio unit and instrument panel finish panel can be removed by attaching screws and spring clips. Unplug the cigar lighter connectors, and unscrew the climate control assembly, removing the electrical and the vacuum connector. Installation is in reverse.
