Ford F-150 Tailgate Latch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the tailgate latch on Ford F-150?
A: Service the tailgate latch only after opening the tailgate and taking out the access panel screws from its location. Separate the tailgate latch rod through the process of opening its clip before taking out the rod. Since the right-hand and left-hand latch removal procedures follow the same steps, begin by uninstalling two screws and taking out the latch component. Instruction for reinstallation involves performing the opposite reverse order of removal. Put Multi-Purpose Grease Spray F5AZ-19G209-AA or an equivalent that fulfills Ford specification ESR-M1C159-A to grease the latches whenever required. Latches must not experience preloading from latch release rods because the rods must stay relaxed with no loose parts.
